Malvasia Preta has a distinct profile and combines with varieties such as Rufete, Tinta Franca and Bastardo, which have more exotic and elegant wine profiles, with intensity and acidity, unlike the structured and powerful profile that the Douro usually presents us.

The curiosity that leads us to experiment with Malvasia Preta, comes mainly because it is a variety of douro orignal, being present in the region and resistant to the difficult conditions of our land.

2015 was a year of great quality, revealing powerful and concentrated reds with immense complexity.

For Malvasia Preta, fermentation took place in small stainless steel tanks with temperature control, then aged in used French oak barrels for a period of 8 months.

Malvasia Preta immediately surprises with its open color showing elegance and uniqueness. On the nose, notes of black fruit and citrus, complexed with spicy nuances, in a very intense and fresh aromatic profile.

A wine with an elegant structure where it presses again by the intensity of the mouth with a fine tannin and a long and very persistent finish.

Although it is one of the oldest grape varieties in the Douro, being present among the Old Vines, it was by the hands of Real Companhia Velha that it took shape in the bottle for the first time, when vinified on its own. It is credited with being a grape variety that is very resistant to the harsh conditions of the region. The fermentation of 'Real Companhia Velha Séries Malvasia Preta tinto 2016' took place in small temperature-controlled stainless steel vats, then aged in used French oak barrels for eight months. A singular and elegant red wine, which surprises by its open colour. On the nose, black fruit and citrus notes stand out, complexed with peppery nuances, in a very intense and fresh aromatic profile. The palate is responsible for affirming its elegance in structure and corroborating the intensity, now in the mouth.

Serve at 16ºC.

A very special red, which goes perfectly with tuna or mackerel, white meats and Italian pasta.
